Tips to Improve Anonymity in 12 Step Meetings on Zoom

1. Go to www.zoom.us

2. On the top right corner of the page, click ‘Sign in’

3. Type in your email address and password for the account, and click ‘Sign in’

4. On the left of the page, under the heading ‘personal’, click on the 5th subheading: ‘Settings’

5. The word ‘Meetings’ will appear in bright blue up at the top of the page.

Scroll down the page to find the ‘In Meeting (Basic)’ heading, and ‘Disable desktop/screen share for users’. Click so it’s blue.

Scroll down a little more, and find ‘Allow participants to rename themselves’. Click so it’s blue.

Scroll further down the page to find the ‘In Meeting (Advanced)’ heading, and ‘Closed captioning’. Click so it’s grey.

Also under the ‘In Meeting (Advanced)’ heading, scroll down a little to find ‘Save Captions’. Click so it’s grey.

Also under the ‘In Meeting (Advanced)’ heading, scroll down a little to find ‘Virtual background’. Click so it’s blue.

Scroll a little further to find ‘Allow live streaming meetings’. Click so button is grey.

Also under the ‘In Meeting (Advanced)’ heading, find ‘Blur snapshot on iOS app switcher’. Click so it’s blue.

6. Scroll to top of the page, and click on the grey word ‘Recording’ (next to ‘Meeting’ and ‘Telephone’) at the top of the page.

Scroll down the page to find ‘Local recording’. Click so it’s grey.

Find ‘Cloud recording’. Click so it’s grey.

Find ‘Automatic recording’. Click so it’s grey.

Find ‘IP Address Access Control’. Click so it’s grey.

Find ‘Require passcode to access shared cloud recordings’. Click so it’s blue.

Find ‘Viewers can see the transcript’. Click so it’s grey.

Find ‘Auto delete cloud recordings after … days’. Click so it’s blue. Beside “Specify a time range (days):” Type in “1”.

Find ‘Recording disclaimer’. Click so it’s blue. Beside “Ask participants for consent when a recording starts” tick box so it’s blue with a tick. Beside “Ask host to confirm before starting a recording” tick box so it’s blue with a tick.

Find ‘Multiple audio notifications of recorded meeting’. Click so it’s blue.

7. Scroll to top of the page, and click on the grey word ‘Telephone’ (next to ‘Meeting’ and ‘Recording’) at the top of the page.

Scroll down to find ‘Mask phone number in the participant list’. Click so it’s blue.
